MADE IN COWICHAN: FOOD

The local culinary scene lures in visitors,
enticing them to stay a day or two while
they eat and drink their way through the
meandering back roads of Cowichan. Many  of the local restaurants have menus that pay homage to the abundance of local seasonal fare grown right in their own backyards and wine lists featuring the wide array of valley wines. Local restaurateur Darren Cole of Steeples Restaurant says he has built his menu with the philosophy in mind that “what grows together, goes together.”

Expect to find bustling patios, warm service and food that ranges from big-city elegance to farmhouse chic. The chefs of Cowichan didn’t simply come here by accident. They sought out a culinary utopia where farm-fresh ingredients abound and they found it
in Cowichan.

With the wealth of diverse farm fresh products, it ’s also not surprising to find two renowned farmer ’s markets (Cobble Hill on Sunday and Duncan on Saturday). Simply wander through the market picking up everything you ’ll need for an afternoon picnic
and let the wine route map be your guide on a Cowichan culinary adventure.
